Lehir, P; Salomon, J; Leprovost, C; Chabertd'Hieres, G; Mauvais, J.
By taking into account salinity measurements and consequently mean residence time, current measurements, tidal computation with a 2-D model and wind induced currents provided by a 3-D model, a global diagram of residual flow in Seine Bay is given. Main patterns are exhibited: density currents in the eastern part of the bay, off the Seine Estuary, wind induced circulation, especially along the coast and over the Channels, and tidal residual patterns induced by topography.

Composition of functional ecological guilds of the fish fauna of the internal sector of the Amazon Estuary, Pará, Brazil Anais da ABC (AABC)
MOURÃO,KEILA R.M.; FERREIRA,VALDIMERE; LUCENA-FRÉDOU,FLÁVIA.
The present study describes the spatial and temporal structure of the estuarine fish community in the internal sector of the Amazon Estuary. Samples were obtained in the main channels and tidal creeks of Guajará and Marajó Bays and Guamá River. A total of 41,516 fish specimens were collected, representing 136 taxa, 38 families and 12 orders. In the dry season, the mean salinity of the main channel increased along a limnic-marine gradient, between the Guamá River and the Marajó Bay. Species richness was lowest in the mouth of the Guamá River and in the right margin of the Guajará Bay. Fish species composition and environmental guilds differed markedly among areas: Migrants and Freshwater Stragglers were dominant in the Guamá River and the Guajará Bay, while...

Factores oceanográficos relacionados con la abundancia relativa de anchoíta (Engraulis anchoita) sobre la plataforma bonaerense (34°S-41°S) durante la primavera OceanDocs
Martos, P.; Hansen, J.E.; Negri, R.M.; Madirolas, A..
Research has been conducted to study the relationship between some physical variables and the relative abundance of the northern stock of the Argentine anchovy (Engraulis anchoita) within the main area of distribution of the stock during springtime. Basic data were recorded during four research surveys mainly aimed at the acoustic assessment of the stock between 34°S and 41° 30'S (Buenos Aires prov., Argentina - Uruguay). The cruises were always carried out in October from 1993 to 1996. Several environmental variables were simultaneously input into a General Linear Model to analyze the variations on fish abundance; however, the model did not account for more than 17-20% of the total variance. Nevertheless most of those factors (sea surface temperature,...

Reproducción de la corvina rubia Micropogonias furnieri del sector rioplatense. Su relación con los gradientes horizontales de salinidad. OceanDocs
Macchi, G.J..
Reproduction of white croaker collected during 1991-1993 in the Argentine-Uruguayan Common Fishing Zone (CFZ)(34°-39°30'S), was studied by means of histological analysis of ovaries. Areal and seasonal maturity stage distributions were compared; ripeness degree was correlated to horizontal salinity gradients. During June and July an overall predominance of the resting stage was observed; nevertheless, a high proportion of females in early maturation was detected near Cabo San Antonio and Punta Piedras. In late October-early November an increase of maturing individuals was observed. Females in advanced maturity stage and partially spent, with postovulatory follicles, were collected mainly in estuarine waters with wide bottom salinity ranges (between 9-25...
